Non-Surgical Skin CancerTherapy (Brachytherapy)

Surgery is not the only way to treat non-melanoma skin cancer. Electronic brachytherapy remedies these lesions safely and effectively, without incisions, without pain, and without the recovery.

An alternative to surgery.

Surgical treatment of non-melanoma skin cancer is effective, but it is invasive, and it can leave postoperative cosmetic concerns in places patients care about.

To minimize that trauma and recovery, Macias Dermatology offers electronic brachytherapy to Fresno and Central Valley patients: a state-of-the-art alternative that treats the cancer while disrupting far less of your life.

How it works.

Electronic brachytherapy delivers superficial radiation to the targeted cancer using a miniaturized electronic X-ray. The delivery is painless and precise, minimizing exposure to the surrounding skin and organs.

It is used for the treatment of basal cell and squamous cell skin cancers, as well as certain other skin disorders.

What to expect.

Treatment begins with an assessment by a radiation oncologist to establish the extent of your cancer and your candidacy, from which an individualized treatment plan is created.

The number and length of your treatments depend on the size, location and type of cancer. Sessions are usually scheduled twice each week for approximately four weeks.
